I just read this. My best friend gave it to me. I don't want to be the kind of person who puts books given to me as gifts on the bottom of my stack, but unfortunately that's usually what happens. And I don't really get through that stack very fast either. I decided this time I wouldn't do that. This collection of short stories made me feel exactly like what's on the front cover - tracks in the snow, synthetic green glow, orange light pollution and all. I think if I was Raymond Carver I'd always have a heart ache, or at least a headache.
